Discovering Choices | Friday Non Instructional Day
  |
Hello Independent Students and Guardians, A reminder that there is no school this Friday March 21. We also have spring break the following week of March 24. Classes resume Monday March 31. For any student that joined us at the beginning of the second semester (end of January) that requires an Individual Program Plans (IPPs) and Student Support Plan (SSP) – these are now ready for your review. Teachers and Advisors should be in touch with you to arrange a meeting to review these documents. It is important we incorporate student voice and guardian voice in the creation of these documents. On Friday March 21 we will be hosting teacher / student conferences. Given that most of our students are over 18, these look a little different from a typical school, since much of our work is 1:1 and highly personalized. However, the essence is still the same. Feel free to connect that day to meet with teachers in person or online between 9:00-2:30. This is also a good time to review IPPs, SSPs, and to have Success In Schools meetings. Since we have continuous enrollment and students continue to register at different times of the year, student assessment is contingent on the body of evidence that has been assessed to date, this will look different for each student depending on how much progress has been made in their respective courses. Independent students and guardians are encouraged to review assessment information in PowerSchool as well as by reaching out to their respective teachers. If this Friday does not work with your schedule please connect with your respective Assistant Principal to schedule another time. Our staff contact information can be found on our website here https://discoveringchoices.cbe.ab.ca/staff Have a great week everyone. Patrick Tomczyk, PhD Principal |
